about

Bill Brennan and Andrea Koziol make music that is elegant, impulsive, sleek, unfiltered, sexy, funky, subtle, caring and as real as it can be. Let these songs into your world and you will have no choice but to be exactly where you are.
(Tom Allen, CBC radio “Shift”)

This is the story of 2 young musicians who fell in love with old songs. They learned them by heart, had a heap of quintessentially Canadian musical adventures, grew up together, moved apart…and 20 years later reunited with worlds of experience to create a sweet album full of honest moments, risk taking, and a whole lot of love.

Bill Brennan and Andrea Koziol were drawn together by a mutual love of Tin Pan Alley intros, and songs they’d heard their grandparents sing. In Toronto’s 1990s they formed a jazz ensemble called Chesterfield Inlet and spent years traveling the country, cutting their teeth on standards, and writing songs about the things they saw.

They remember with great fondness appearing on CBC’s Morningside. Sitting with the utterly disarming Peter Gzowski, talking about dreams, composing and simple things. The interview ended with Bill launching in to an impromptu a cappella version of “Please Mr. Conductor” - his dad’s favourite kitchen party offering. (Pretty sure there wasn’t a dry eye in the house by the end.) After that interview, Andrea's mom reluctantly acknowledged that her kid was actually a musician despite her degree in philosophy.

Eventually, Bill moved back to Newfoundland and a prestigious music faculty position at Memorial University. Andrea stayed in Toronto perusing a solo career. Despite the 3000kms between them, they continued to collaborate at a distance, because...no distance could ever keep them apart. In 2018 they decided it was time to honour their origin story and record some of the pivotal songs that had brought them together. “I’ll Be Seeing You” is the fruit of that labour. It’s a compilation of 100 years of fabulous songwriting realized in the most intimate of ways: live off the floor, over three days in a very joyful bubble. It also features brilliant contributions from Andrew Downing on bass and Joel Schwartz on guitar.
